THE-SIGNATURE-LEFT-BY-MICHELANGELO

In the Vatican Museums there are great masterpieces of course, but if you know where lead your look, you will find some incredibile curiosities...

On a marble base of the Octagonal Courtyard, in the Vatican Museums, you will find two unusual initials: MB. What does it mean? First of all let me telly how, probably, yo will get in touch with all the other masterpieces of this enchanted place: it is full of works of art, like the Laocoon or giant pink granite baths from the Roman age. But maybe you know how art history and our legaacy could be plenty of strange traditions, legends, myths or sommething more. So, for example here in the Octagonal Courtyard, you can see this anonymous marble piece with some reliefs in its surface, that could very nice to see if you know a specific tradition... According to it, the two initials (MB), that you can see were directly made by Michelangelo, thegenius of the Renaissance age! He loved so much this special courtyard because he used to spend a lot of time studying and admiring the artistic masterpieces which stand here. Imagine how this lovely corner was would, at the beginning of the #Renaissance Age, by the #Pope Julius II. He was a great art collector, and like all the other wealthy men he used to collect and buy several pieces. This courtyard was his private one, and he decided to embellish it with all the masterpieces that still today, more or less, could be seen. It is the reason why it became a sort of chamber of wonders, something that must be lived, mainly by artists. So Michelnagelo, but also other masters, used to come here in order to get in touch with the ancient Roman age, simply looking at the marble pieces host here, sketching them or copying them... And so, always according to the tradition, #Michelangelo usually worked above this marble base, starting to consider it as his ownproperty. This is the reason why he decided to fixed his name, forever... #romeisus #Rome #Roma #art #marble #VaticanMuseums #atourguiderome
